The HR Service Center provides applicants, employees and retirees a convenient location to handle all of their benefits, employment and payroll needs. The HR Service Center is professionally staffed Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
CommuteSmart Carpooling Program
The University of Alabama is addressing the high fuel prices by launching the CommuteSmart Online Carpool Matching Program. The Department of Human Resources is partnering with CommuteSmart, an organization sponsored by the Regional Planning Commision of Greater Birmingham, to use an online database to "match" employees who have similar schedules and work locations so that those wishing to form a carpool can do so. Individuals who are interested in learning more about the carpool program may do so by clicking here or calling the HR Service Center at 348-7732.
TRS Individual Counseling Appointments
No matter when you are planning to retire, counselors are available to counsel you by phone and answer any questions you have concerning your account.
If you are in the Montgomery area, you may drop by our office and meet with a counselor at any time. No appointments are necessary. Other than holidays, our office hours are 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday.
If you are within 3 years of retirement eligibility and live out of town, you may want to arrange a 20-minute appointment with one of the counselors. A Retirement Counseling Appointment Request form must be completed and mailed to:

Newly Appointed Faculty Benefits Orientation
The benefits orientation program provides new faculty members with information about the benefits available, an opportunity to ask questions about the benefits, and a chance to complete the necessary forms. Some of the plans require enrollment within 30 days. Click here for more information.
The Family and Medical Leave Act and National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008
On January 28, 2008, President Bush signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008 (NDAA). The NDAA amends the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) to provide eligible employees working for covered employers two important new leave rights related to military services. New Employee Orientation
New employees must attend an orientation session as soon as possible after beginning employment. Employees with a change in status must attend orientation immediately following the date their job status changes. Orientation information and schedules can be found here.
