Policy # 104.00 Version: 1.0 Effective Date: 8/13/2001

Purpose:

To state the position of The University of Alabama in regard to promises of employment, employment agreements, or employment contracts for The University of Alabama staff.

 

Policy:

The State of Alabama is an employment at will state. Although it is desirable for employees of the University to form long-standing employment relationships with the University, either the employee or the University may terminate the relationship at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. Neither the University's policies or practices nor its employee handbooks are intended to alter an employee's at will relationship.
